  • Filing an application for registration of a design in the Register shall be made through the electronic form of the Industrial Property Office of the Slovak Republic on the electronic services portal https://mef.indprop.gov.sk
  • The representation of the design(s) entered in the electronic form must be in .jpg format with a resolution of 300 DPI and with the shortest side of the representation of at least 8 cm.
  • The applicant or the applicant's representative has an electronic mailbox on slovensko.sk activated for delivery.
  • The fee shall be paid by bank transfer no later than five working days from the date of dispatch of the acknowledgement of filing with the correct payment details, including the variable symbol and the specific symbol, as indicated in the acknowledgement of filing.
  • When preparing the application, the applicant or the representative of the applicant for the design shall use the DesignClass search tool to obtain the product identification and classification of the design through the application provided at the following address: https://euipo.europa.eu/designclass/
  • If priority is claimed in the application, the priority document must be part of the application as filed.


If these conditions are met, the application shall be examined and if no formal or material defects are found, e.g. that the design applied for is not new or does not have a special character or is contrary to good morals, or the representations of the design do not comply with the conditions laid down in the Decree, the subject-matter of such application shall be entered in the Register of the Office of the Slovak Republic, as a rule, within 45 working days from the date of its filing.In the event of non-compliance with the specified conditions of the accelerated procedure for the registration of a design, the Industrial Property Office of the Slovak Republic cannot guarantee that the registration of the design will be effected within the specified time limit.The accelerated procedure can be verified in the web register of the Office by clicking on the protocol of the respective application. If the log shows an entry instructing the registration within 30 working days of the filing of the application, this means that the application in question has fulfilled the conditions of the accelerated procedure for registration of the design.

The application for registration of a design shall contain, in addition to a completed application for registration of the design and a representation of each design, a specification of the product in which the design is embodied or on which it is used and for which registration is sought and from which the substance of the design can be clearly discerned. It shall also include proof of the acquisition of the right to the design, if the applicant is not the originator of the design. In the case of a multiple application, a list of designs shall also be annexed. For the purposes of product identification, the current version of the Locarno Agreement International Classification of Designs should be used, preferably using the Internet application listed at: https://euipo.europa.eu/designclass

  • The application for registration of a design in the Register must be filed through the electronic form of the Office of the Office of the Slovak Republic on the electronic services portal https://mef.indprop.gov.sk/ipointupv/pages/Default.aspx
  • The applicant or his representative must have an electronic mailbox on the slovensko.sk portal activated for delivery.
  • The images of the designs must be submitted in .jpg format with a resolution of 300 DPI. The applicant shall use the tool available at https://euipo.europa.eu/designclass/ to identify the product, which is a legal requirement of the application.
  • The administrative fee for the filing of the application shall be paid by bank transfer within a maximum of five working days from the date on which the Office sends the applicant/agent the acknowledgement of the filing of the application. The payment shall be made by entering the payment details communicated to the applicant in the acknowledgement of filing of the application in writing as soon as the application has been received by the Office, but at the latest within five days.
  • If the applicant claims priority in his application from the first design application under the International Convention, he shall submit a document proving that fact together with the application.


Once the above steps have been completed, the examination staff of the Office will examine the application within a very short period of time and, if the application fulfils all the statutory conditions for the registration of the design in the Register, the Office will issue a design registration order within 30 working days from the date of filing of the application, which means that the application has fulfilled the conditions of the accelerated procedure for the registration of the design in the Register.

The fast-track procedure can be verified in the Office's web register by clicking on the log of the relevant application. If the log shows an entry for an instruction to register within 30 working days of the filing of the application, this means that the application in question has fulfilled the conditions for the accelerated procedure for registration of the design in the Register.
