Statement on publishing ethics and practice
The following ethical standards are binding for all parties involved in the publication of the Journal Duševné vlastnícvo (Intellectual Property). The primary objective of these ethical standards is to define the rights and obligations of all participants in the publication process, including authors, the journal (its publisher and editorial bodies), and reviewers, in order to ensure the highest quality, neutrality, objectivity, and transparency of the journal Intellectual Property.
These ethical standards have been established in accordance with the standards of good publishing conduct proposed by the international Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and included in the Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.
Obligations of Authors
Authors are required to familiarize themselves with the submission guidelines for authors and the ethical standards of the Journal Duševné vlastnícvo (Intellectual Property). By submitting a manuscript to the editorial team, the author declares that the submitted work is original, unpublished, and written exclusively for the journal. Furthermore, the author declares that they have full and unrestricted copyright over the work, and that the work has not been, and will not be, submitted elsewhere for publication until a final decision regarding its publication in Intellectual Property has been made.
The author is responsible for the content of their work, with plagiarism strictly prohibited. In this regard, the author also declares that the work has been written in compliance with scientific standards, with proper and complete citation of all sources and works used, as well as adherence to citation standards concerning third-party ideas and proper acknowledgment in the references. This commitment is confirmed by signing a license agreement with the journal.
If the work has been prepared with financial support or with the involvement of additional contributors, these details must be clearly disclosed, including the sources of funding, sponsors, and grants. The author must avoid offensive statements that could harm other individuals or the reputation of the journal. Furthermore, the author is obligated to immediately inform the journal if they identify a significant error in the published work and to cooperate in making corrections.

he journal and its entities—the publisher and editorial bodies (members of the editorial and scientific boards)—undertake to act in accordance with the ethical standards of the Journal Duševné vlastnícvo (Intellectual Property), with respect for good morals, and without any racial, sexual, religious, ethnic, or political discrimination in interactions with all parties involved in the publication process.
The journal implements tools that enable authors and other parties to report violations of ethical standards, as well as measures to prevent their infringement. The journal commits to addressing any complaints promptly, documenting them, and making corrections in collaboration with the complainant.
The editorial team accepts manuscripts of scientific texts, original theoretical research studies, and commentaries that are relevant to the focus of the journal. The journal emphasizes areas of industrial property protection, copyright protection, and related topics. Accepted articles are reviewed in a double-blind peer review process by at least two reviewers. If there is a significant discrepancy in the reviews, the editorial team may appoint a third reviewer.
The editorial board makes the final decision on the acceptance of a manuscript for publication based on the results of the anonymous peer review, which assesses the academic value of the manuscript. The review process is conducted independently of the author. Only manuscripts of an informative nature, commentaries, reports, and reviews are published without peer review. Editors or members of the editorial board who publish in the journal must not misuse their position.

Obligations of Reviewers
Reviewers are required to familiarize themselves with the ethical standards of the Journal Duševné vlastnícvo (Intellectual Property), the form of the review report, and the review process. The results of the review form the basis for the editorial decision on the acceptance or rejection of the manuscript.
Reviewers must approach the evaluation of the text objectively, impartially, and responsibly, and are committed to completing the review in a timely manner and to the required quality. In cases of conflict of interest, time constraints, insufficient expertise, or inability to complete the review, the reviewer must inform the editorial team within the specified timeframe. The reviewer maintains anonymity and undertakes not to misuse the information or ideas gained from the review process for personal gain. If any substantial overlap with previously published work is identified, the reviewer must inform the editorial team.
Procedure for the handling of cases of unethical behaviour
Any breach or suspicion of breach of the ethical standards of the Journal Duševné vlastnícvo (Intellectual Property) or unethical behavior must be reported to the journal, with all necessary information and evidence provided to initiate an investigation.
The journal and its entities will endeavor to investigate the matter impartially by gathering all relevant evidence. In cases of violations of principles by the journal, an independent expert may be consulted.
Minor infractions are resolved internally, potentially directly with the affected party. Serious infractions are addressed by the journal, with the option to involve additional experts. The employer of the accused may also be informed of the ongoing investigation into the violation of ethical standards and behavior. The final decision depends on the severity of the violation of ethical principles or unethical behavior.
The outcome of the investigation may involve informing and instructing the affected individual, issuing a formal warning, retracting the text or issue, or imposing a ban on the individual from publishing, reviewing, or participating in any activities within the Journal Duševné vlastnícvo (Intellectual Property) Additionally, the final results of the investigation may be reported to a professional organization, the individual’s employer, or referred to a higher authority for further investigation and imposition of appropriate measures based on the nature of the violation.
