In the performance of the tasks and duties of the Office, we obtain your personal data directly from you (e.g. when applying for a professional examination for the performance of the activities of a patent attorney; in the performance of the Office's duties in the field of protection of inventions, utility models, ...), or we obtain them in the performance of our duties from third parties (e.g. a public administration body providing assistance to the Office, etc.).When the Office processes personal data, you are the data subject, i.e. the person about whom the personal data concerning him or her is processed.We may also process your personal data in the performance of the Authority's duties as an employer, if you are, for example, an employee of the Authority, a family member of an employee of the Authority, or a person close to an employee of the Authority.If we process your personal data pursuant to specific legislation, failure to provide your personal data could result in the inability to carry out the tasks and obligations of the Authority.


Privacy policy

We have a legal obligation to disclose your personal data e.g. in the course of accredited training, when dealing with submissions to the Authority or at the request of authorised government authorities or institutions, where this is required by specific legislation.Your personal data will be held securely, in accordance with the Authority's security policy and only for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purpose of the processing.Access to your personal data will be restricted to persons authorised by the Authority (the controller) to process your personal data and who process it on the instructions of the controller, in accordance with the controller's security policy.

On what basis will your data be processed?

Your personal data is processed on the basis of specific legislation and purposes that are set by the controller. More detailed information about the purposes of processing your personal data, legal bases, retention period, legitimate interests of processing personal data, are included in the documentation of the Data Protection Authority and information about them can be provided upon request.


Who are the recipients of your personal data?

The categories of recipients are mainly:

  • public authorities
  • law enforcement authorities
  • parties to administrative proceedings

Will your personal data be disclosed outside the European Union?

Personal data - in the scope of the title, name, surname and address - of the applicant, owner or originator of the subject-matter of the industrial right are provided reciprocally to third countries or international organisations on the basis of international agreements.

Will your data be used for automated individual decision-making?

Personal data will not be used for automated individual decision-making, including profiling.

How long will your personal data be retained?

The retention of personal data we process about you is subject to Act No. 395/2002 Coll. on Archives and Registers in conjunction with the Office's Registration Plan, which is approved by the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic.


What rights do you have?

  • Withdraw consent - in cases where we process your personal data on the basis of your consent, you have the right to withdraw this consent at any time. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of the processing of personal data we have processed about you on the basis of that consent.
  • Right of access - you have the right to be provided with a copy of the personal data we hold about you, as well as information about how we use your personal data. In most cases, your personal data will be provided to you in written paper form, unless you request a different method of provision. If you have requested this information by electronic means, it will be provided to you electronically where technically possible.
  • Right to rectification - We take reasonable steps to ensure that the information we hold about you is accurate, complete and up to date. If you believe that the information we hold is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date, please do not hesitate to ask us to correct, update or complete the information.
  • Right to erasure (to be forgotten) - you have the right to ask us to erase your personal data, for example, if the personal data we have collected about you is no longer necessary to fulfil the original purpose of the processing. However, your right must be considered in the light of all the relevant circumstances. For example, we may have certain legal and regulatory obligations which mean that we may not be able to comply with your request.
  • Right to restrict processing - in certain circumstances you are entitled to ask us to stop using your personal data. This is for example where you think the personal data we hold about you may be inaccurate or where you think we no longer need to use your personal data.
  • Right to data portability - in certain circumstances, you have the right to ask us to transfer the personal data you have provided to us to another third party of your choice. However, the right of portability only applies to personal data that we have obtained from you by consent or under a contract to which you are a party.
  • Right to object - you have the right to object to processing based on our legitimate interests. If we do not have a compelling legitimate ground for processing and you object, we will no longer process your personal data.
  • The right to bring a data protection case - if you believe that your personal data is being processed unfairly or unlawfully, you can lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority, which is the Office for Personal Data Protection of the Slovak Republic

Purpose and use of personal data from CCTV footage

The purpose of the installation of a CCTV recording system is solely for the prevention and documentation of damage to life, health or property by the competent authorities (e.g. Police, Insurance Company, Public Prosecutor's Office, Courts, etc.). hereinafter referred to as "authorised body").The lawfulness of the processing of personal data is determined by the legitimate interest of the controller.The CCTV footage may only be used in proceedings in cooperation with authorised entities.The CCTV footage shall not be disclosed to third parties (with the exception of the authorised subject) and shall not be subject to the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act.The retention period of CCTV footage shall be 72 hours.
